Read more about this – Velveting: Chinese Restaurant Way to Tenderise Chicken. Velveting is optional if using chicken thighs because it’s a juicy cut. But if you are using chicken breast or tenderloins and you choose to tenderise it, you are going to be amazed how juicy and tender the chicken is. It’s the easiest and least effort for home cooking – and 100% effect. ![]() There are a few ways to do this, but I like using a simple method where the chicken is coated in a small amount of baking soda (bi-carb), left for 20 minutes to tenderise, then rinsed before cooking in the stir fry. Have you noticed that the chicken in Chinese restaurants is incredibly soft and almost “velvety”? It’s because restaurants “velvet” the chicken (that’s the term that is used). Read more about it here, including why it’s so important, the difference it makes in recipes and the best substitutes.īest substitutes for Chinese Cooking Wine – Mirin or dry sherry.īest non alcoholic substitute for Chop Suey is to use chicken broth (liquid chicken stock) in place of water in the sauce. If you’ve ever wondered why your stir fries aren’t quite as tasty as what you get from (good) Chinese restaurants, here are the two things you’ve probably been missing: Secret 1 – Chinese Cooking WineĬhinese cooking wine (or Shaoxing Wine) is the secret ingredient in almost every Chinese recipe that’s used by the gallon in Chinese restaurants around the world! It adds depth and complexity of flavour into even the most simple sauces with just a small amount. How to make a Chop Suey that’s REALLY restaurant quality Because of this, there really aren’t hard and fast rules about what goes in it, but the general characteristic is that the sauce is a fairly light brown colour, there is plenty of it (and you know I love my sauce!!) and it’s pretty thick so it clings to your rice or noodles. This recipe also shares two little known Chinese restaurant secrets so you can make a stir fry that genuinely is as good as your favourite take out!Ĭhop Suey is just a slightly westernised version of a classic, basic Chinese stir fry. Chop Suey – a saucy chicken stir fry loaded with tender pieces of chicken, vegetables and smothered in Chinese brown sauce just like you get at the best Chinese restaurants! Use any vegetables you want in this quick and easy stir fry. ![]() Why? Because the sequential depositing of potsherds (fragments of pottery) in an easterly direction across the island groups of the Pacific has become the pivotal evidence that tells the extraordinary story of the peopling of the vast Pacific Ocean. 1000 B.C.E., red-slip earthenware, Santa Cruz Islands, south-east of Solomon Islands ( Department of Anthropology, University of Auckland, CC BY-NC-ND 3.0)Īrchaeologists get very excited when they find pieces of Lapita pottery. Styles in the East became more ornate and influenced by Oriental values in design and subject.Terracotta fragments, Lapita people, c. In the Hellenistic period, from the 4th century bce, centres of statuette production moved to Asia Minor and westward, being found throughout the Roman Empire as far as Britain. The Tanagra figurines, found in Tanagra in central Greece (Boeotia), are the best known of this kind. After the 7th century bce, styles became less hieratic, the subjects more mundane-e.g., a nurse with child, a teacher and pupils, an actor in costume. The Cypriot figures often comprise groups of dancers or warriors, and the Cretan feature lively poses of women, horsemen, or animals. Molded statuettes 6 to 7 inches (15 to 18 cm) in height are common throughout the ancient world, among them very early primitive figures from Cyprus and painted, glazed human figures from Minoan Crete. Fairly large and elaborate plaques were used to adorn brick stupas. Terra-cotta sculpture, like art in other mediums, was greatly developed. Few Roman terra-cotta statues have been found. Figures on Etruscan sarcophagi often were of terra-cotta. The modeled Etruscan statues, at times very Greek in style but often with a gayer or fiercer flavour, were admired widely in antiquity. Most Greek terra-cotta statuary, more common than once thought, was used to decorate temples. Greek artists carried the craft to Etruria, whence both Etruscan and Greek sculptors moved to work in Rome. Small terra-cotta figures from the Early Bronze Age, as early as 3000 bce, have been found in Greece, and larger objects dating from the 7th century bce have also been found. Throughout the ancient world, one of the most common uses of terra-cotta was for building-brick, roof tiles, and sarcophagi, the last often decorated with paintings. Limitations in the basic materials often cause a superficial similarity between simply made works as far separated by time and distance as early Greece and the modern cultures of Latin America. Most terra-cotta has been of a utilitarian kind because of its cheapness, versatility, and durability. Terra-cotta, (Italian: “baked earth”) literally, any kind of fired clay but, in general usage, a kind of object-e.g., vessel, figure, or structural form-made from fairly coarse, porous clay that when fired assumes a colour ranging from dull ochre to red and usually is left unglazed. So, from your pivot table tool tab, the design group specifically, you'll see a Report Layout dropdown showing your different table layouts or form options, and this is what Compact Form typically looks like by default. ![]() Now, most pivot tables, by default, will show in what's called Compact Form, and that groups all of your row labels together, or nests them, into a single column. Thanks Michael CODE Sub trail() ' ' trail Macro ' ' Dim. Can anyone see where I have gone wrong and it keeps dropping off at that point for each row field. I would prefer if it didn't show any subtotals and was in a tabular form. The following sample code first shows the Pivot Table in Compact Form, then it shows the Pivot Table in Outline Form and lastly it shows Pivot Table in Tabular Form. ![]() We select the Format button and on the Number tab select Custom and write the following custom Format code. Aspose.Cells also provides PivotTable.ShowInCompactForm(), PivotTable.ShowInOutlineForm() and PivotTable.ShowInTabularForm() methods to change the layout of pivot table in these three forms. Now we set up formatting if the condition is met. I'm going to show you how we can display pivots in different types of table layouts or forms, specifically Outline or Tabular Form. I have created the code below to create a Pivot Table using VBA, so that it populates from a list box option. Which basically translates to Check if the current filename appeared more than once in a range from the beginning of the column and up to the current row. Alright, this next pro tip is an extremely important one for anyone who works with pivot tables in Excel. I've used this macro since WotLK and still use it to this day. So you may ask, "Why go through all the trouble when I can use an addon?" Well, they are handy and make everything above more or less pointless however, they are bulky and confusing to setup and use (for some), so this is an acceptable alternative in lieu of that option. It still requires that you have the proper materials in your bags or reagent bank to work properly, but it is much simpler. It also works well for leveling enchanting too. You can do this instead for enchantments that are used less often. Paste the above into it your macro'd button, open your Trade Skill window, select an enchantment from the list (highlight it by clicking on it), and start pressing away. Be sure to label them properly so you can remember what they're for!Īn alternative to doing all of the above is to create a macro: It will look something like "enchant:159235." You can take this and type it directly into the aforementioned script. You can paste this into your macro, open your Trade skill window, select an enchantment from the list (highlight it by clicking on it), and press your macro'd button to return the spell ID of the highlighted enchant directly into your chat box. run local link = GetTradeSkillItemLink(GetTradeSkillSelectionIndex()) print(link:match("\124H(%w :%d )") or "Select an enchant and hit the macro again.") Having trouble finding a spell ID for your enchantment? You can find it in the spell's Wowhead url ( 159235), or you can create an additional macro to help you find it in-game: Please ensure you have met these requirements before you come here to comment and/or down-vote! You'll know if you failed to meet one or more of these requirements if only your Trade Skill window appears, yet nothing else happens. You have both Enchanting Vellum and the proper enchanting materials present in your bags ( or reagent bank) for the desired enchantment. You have the desired enchantment learned already. You have the correct trade skill level for the desired enchantment. You have the correct spell ID of the desired enchantment typed into the script. This can be duplicated as many times as you see fit, or you have empty macro slots for. Just copy and paste the above code into an empty macro and replace 159235 ( Mark of the Thunderlord) with whatever spell ID of the enchantment you wish to produce in bulk. run local s for i=1,GetNumTradeSkills() do if (GetTradeSkillItemLink(i) or ""):match("enchant:159235") then DoTradeSkill(i) end end For example, there are now five Agility enchantments, and although they're categorized differently, there was no way for the original script to differentiate between them and would select the first one found named 'Agility'. The original script from this post has been modified from its previous version to now call individual spell ID's rather than a spell's name itself since enchantments have lost their prefix (e.g., Enchant Bracers, Enchant Boots, Enchant Gloves, etc.) causing there to be numerous spells with the same name. Since when is being a consumer advocate a bad thing? :PĬomment by SavilHere's a useful script to use if you're mass producing particular enchantments onto vellum and wish see the whole process done with one press of a button.īlizzard made some changes to spell names in patch 6.0.2. Selling enchants on the AH is very relevant to this item type as it is the only way to do it, and I'm simply posting this here so people will be cautious about what enchants they're going to try to sell with the vellum, because the vellum itself can be quite an expensive investment depending on your server's economy and you may not even be able to make back the cost for many enchants. I even state that your experience may be different. :)Įdit: Why is this being downrated?I believe my opinion is valid and presented in a constructive manner. Your mileage may vary, but this is my personal experience. It's a shame, because it'd be nice to make money off leveling enchanting, rather than keeping it the insane money sink that it's always been. Even at very low prices for the enchants, low level non-twink enchants rarely sell. Most people wont look on the AH, they'll ask in trade. People who are leveling often simply do not buy enchants because their gear is replaced so quickly, and because the late introduction of this feature has done little to break the "find an enchanter in person" mindset. Comment by XaemoonI find that as of this writing, selling enchants on the AH is very difficult pre-60, unless the enchant is twink-related. ![]() Subscription customers can upgrade for free in April If you’re using any of these apps, you have a few choices as to how to proceed. ![]() Note that Capture One Express versions aren’t affected. Effective immediately, the co-branded variants of Capture One Pro for owners of Fujifilm, Nikon, and Sony cameras have all been withdrawn from sale. ICC files from the Fujifilm simulations and to be used for other cameras can be found on several websites. Are they violating any copyrights? I don't know as I don't know how they were created, but I tested with a Nikon NEF file and found those to be very close to the original in color and contrast tone.Danish software company Capture One has made a big change this week to the way it distributes its eponymously-named imaging utility. The fan of my computer (2018 model i9) is spinning like crazy and the catalog system is horribly bad implemented. I find CO1 to be terribly slow (loading the catalog is 20/30 seconds+), drawing takes forever. There are too many paid reviews, that say it is much better than LR. I ask because I was planning to write a blog about CO1 as a recent convert and honestly tell its pro's and cons. The problem is I have a full version so I know I can do it, but I want to know if it is possible to import DNG with the Fujifilm / Sony only version as I know many have converted files to that format. As you likely know, it gives you unrestricted use for 30 days. Your best bet would be to download a trial of the Fuji C1Pro. ![]() If the markers are removed and the file extension has changed, you likely wouldn't be able to process - even if you have converted to DNG from RAF. ![]() I wonder if this is due to differing DNG specifications (IIRC it is similar to PDFs in this regard) or if there is some bit of metadata that is being keyed off of within C1 that prevents this.Ĭould be interesting to see if tweaking the metadata to Fuji values allows for the loading of the DNG. It does not work with DNG from my ricoh grĪh, interesting. There’s a possibility that it searches metadata for Fuji specific markers, but once converted, the platform specific format in the data itself is removed. Not quite a complete answer but I suspect it will only work from DNGs made from supported fuji RAFs.ĭNG is a platform neutral raw image format - my guess is that if C1 can open a DNG from a RAF, it could do the same when converted from Canon, Nikon, Sony, and so forth. I have fuji files converted to DNG and the free capture one fuji will open and process them. Given that Capture One has the actual, exact film simulations via marketing agreement with Fuji, of course the proprietary design is protected against use for raw files from competitors. No idea how far off these knock-offs are - perhaps they are fairly close. The answer in part will also depend on what software you use to create the DNG file.Īs there is no arrangement between Fuji and Adobe (AFAICT), approximated, back-engineered film simulations created for LR are made available for other raw file formats without restriction. The film simulations can at minimum be a good starting point for your post processing, and so being able to change say from Velvia to Acros, or vice versa, is very handy. I am sorry that I don't know the answer to your original question, or to my own question either, but it is definitely something to consider as you choose your processing software. Does the Fujifilm version of Capture One Pro actually supports DNG import as this version of CO1 is specific to Fujifilm and only support RAF files?Ī related but more specific question: if Capture One Pro does indeed support DNG import, then once you have imported, does it also allow you to switch Fuji film emulations (or at least, film emulation simulations) the way that Lightroom does? ![]() Why is Desperados rated Not Rated? Desperados is rated Not Rated by the MPAA Call me a prude but I just don’t think tween boys should be used for pedophile jokes and sexual innuendo. It’s possible to be crass and funny, but Desperados falls fully into the “gross” category. When not trying to kill the audience with squirmingly awkward moments, the writers also attempt to include humor through profanity and sexual innuendo. I did have to look away and breathe deeply a few times when it got too mortifying to even witness. I did not laugh or even crack a smile the whole time. Cringy secondhand embarrassment is hard to get right as humor, and this production gets it very wrong. I’m not claiming witchcraft, but I’m also not not claiming witchcraft.Īside from being an eternity long, the writers of this movie also forgot that they were making a comedy and failed to add any jokes. This film stole my entire day from me, and yet it claims to only be 105 minutes long. An eternity later, I emerged from my bedroom, slightly dehydrated, hungry, and with a headache, realizing it was now time to make dinner, even though I had started watching right after lunch. I kissed my sweet baby goodbye and settled in. That was the moment I realized that I needed to hunker down for the long haul. At one point during the runtime, I thought the story was wrapping up and I felt like I’d been watching for a while, so I checked how much time was left. They should sell that technology to NASA and get their money’s worth. I want to start off by congratulating Netflix on their huge achievement of creating a wormhole device that turns 105 minutes into four hours.
